Alma Avery Rubenstein is the heart and soul of The Professional Dater. She loves working with people and is fascinated with the psychology of the human being. She is dedicated to helping people help themselves. Her personal philosophy is that people often know what they need to do, but they need someone to kick them in the rear and get them going!

Along with her counseling certificate and study in psychology and communications, Alma also has ten years of experience as a professional actress, and has herself been through all the ups and downs of a single person in search of love. This has given her the insight needed to help people recognize and realize their relationship and dating goals, and ultimately find love.

Alma provides services such as coaching, classes, and matchmaking with affiliated companies such as Space City Mixers, Great Expectations, and Events & Adventures. She is an instructor at the Experimental College at the University of Washington, Discover U, Edmonds Community College, South Seattle Community College and Everett Community College.

In November, 2007, Alma appeared on national Fox TV's "The Morning Show with Mike and Juliet" telling national viewers how to get a second date.

In Seattle, Alma has appeared on some of the top radio stations and shows as a frequent guest. These include 100.7 The WOLF, MOViN 92.5, KBSG, the BJ Shea Show, the The Dr. Pat Show, and KJR just to name a few. National Public Radio did a segment on Alma, noting her unique style and the impact she has had on the singles community.

She has appeared on "Movies on the Run" on UPN 11, KING 5 Evening Magazine, KOMO 4 News at 4, Q13 Morning News, KOMO 4 Northwest Afternoon and a nationally televised morning show, UPN's "The Daily Buzz".

The press sings Alma’s praises. She was the subject of a major feature profile in the Associated Press, which resulted in 2007 pre-Valentine's coverage in newspapers across the country, including USA Today. She was featured in the December, 2007 issue of Seattle Magazine. Other press includes pieces in The Puget Sound Business Journal, Seattle Metropolitan Magazine, and the L.A. Times.

As an actress, she appeared in the films “BASEketball” and “Just Married”. Her TV appearances include: “The Others”, “Blind Date”, “Dating Game”, “Chains of Love”. “Single in LA” and ABC’s “The Bachelor”.
